A friend, who is also a mom, wished out loud, “I want to go shopping in Trinoma.”
Her five year old son, who happened to be in the vicinity, asked her, “Mom, do you want to go shopping? Or do you need to go shopping?”
As the taxi driver pulled the cab over to the curb, he made a hasty apology and said in Tagalog that he couldn’t hold it in any more, and rushed to a pink MMDA urinal.
As he relieved himself, I realized I might have contact with his hands later because of the change from the cab fare. Oh no!
Today, 12 June 2008, I was half-awake when I heard the loudspeakers of the nearby public elementary and high school blare that they were going to burn the Philippine flag in celebration of Independence Day.
That sent me scrambling up from the bed to grab my camera and run to the balcony to record this preposterous event.
