Filipino-Canadian Schoolboy Gets Punished for Eating with a Spoon and Fork- The 7 year old Filipino-Canadian Luc Cagadoc’s habit of eating with a spoon and fork has caused the lunch monitor to isolate him at least 10 times for not eating with the traditional Western utensils of a fork and knife in his Canadian school Ecole Lalande. At the moment, his mother is demanding for a public apology from the school. |
The furor over Filipino Canadian Luc Cagadoc’s habit of eating with a spoon and fork has elicited a response in the form of a letter from the school board of Ecole Lalande, the school that Luc Cagadoc goes to.
Excerpt from School Board’s Letter
However, a disturbing excerpt from the letter that was signed by Pierre Jette, Executive Director, and France Pilon, Assistant Executive Director for Pre-school Education and Primary Grades, reads as follows:
“The CSMB (Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys) would also like to use this space to support the principal, the staff and the school team of Lalande primary school in Pierrefonds/ Roxboro, who have been overwhelmed in the last few weeks by the turmoil caused by the way an educational intervention involving a student during the noon lunch hour was handled.
Usually, at the end of Playshop, the Trumpets family comes together in a concert and worship gathering. This year, the Tribute is slated on 03 June 2006 Saturday 7.30pm at the AFP Theater.
Aside from the Trumpets family, performances by the Akafellas, the CompanY and Zimrah will be part of the program. Traditionally, the Tribute concert is free, but, this year, Php 250/ticket will be charged. Why? The Trumpets family is banding together behind one of their own- Teri Tolosa who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. All the proceeds of the Trumpets Life to the Max Concert will be going to her medical expenses.
Playshop teachers Aika Johnson and Rizza Ribo are in charge of one of the pre-school classes for Children’s Theatre. As such, they train the kids to use their imagination while rehearsing their showcase.
Aside from pretending that they are toys such as dolls, robots, clowns, and stuffed animals, the children have to make believe that they are in front of an audience that consists of their parents, relatives and their classmates’ relatives too.
