What a lot of people don’t know is that it is because of Alfonso Cuaron’s film for Warner Brothers, “The Little Princess,” that made J.K. Rowling decide to go with the company with the Harry Potter series. So it’s only fitting that it comes full circle, so to speak, as Cuaron directs the third installment of the series.

What makes his work so extraordinary is his ability to recognize how a literary piece of work can grow with the film medium, plus his commitment to the magical world showed itself in the rich details. Watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on HBO Asia just helped me remember why I love this film so much. Try to catch it tonight at 11.35pm as you wait for the incoming New Year.

When I vaguely heard about Tom Cruise openly disagreeing with Brooke Shield’s public admission of using drugs to help her with her post-natal depression, I didn’t realize how vehemently opposed the whole group of Scientologists was against psychology and psychiatry until Entertainment Tonight featured the opening of a Scientology sponsored museum that dedicated itself to showing how Psychiatry was an Industry of Death.

On 23 December 2005, my friend and I went to S.R. Thai to take up the owner’s offer of a free meal. I called up the day before to inform them that we were coming.
