Chuckles — Yes I Am Filipino (Part 2)

I am frequently mistaken to be a Singaporean. One even went as far as to say that he thought I was Eurasian, and, I suppose with my mixture of Chinese, Filipino and Spanish blood, it was understandable.

Other Filipinos think I’m Singaporean too, until I tell them otherwise, a fact that is befuddling to me.

Globe Roaming SMS Advisory

I was the only one among the Pinoys who flew to Singapore who did not bring a cell phone, which was probably a very strange thing to do. My reasoning was based on the fact that the Internet is readily available anyway, plus, I had the impression that roaming charges were quite steep.

However, during my short visit to the Philippines, a friend berated me for not bringing my Globe phone and not putting it on roam mode. She recounted that it’s one of the cheapest ways to keep in touch with family and friends who are out of the country since all the senders based in the Philippines can still text me for Php 1, and I would receive the SMS for free. Of course, everyone understands that I would not reply via SMS, but, rather through email or not at all.
