SM Supermarket Cubao Charges More Than Receipt (Ire)

On 11 January 2012, I had to talk to the In Charge of cashiers, Ms. Ethel, because for the Php 0.13 cents part of my receipt, the cashier asked if I had a twenty-five cent coin, which, as everybody knows, is the most readily available coin in the market. However, I handed her a ten-cent coin instead, which flummoxed her for a moment.

I recounted to Ms. Ethel that I had already spoken to Supervisor Ms. Theresa Pereyra last 09 January 2012 regarding a similar incident wherein I was being asked for fifty cents for forty-three cents. Ms. Pereyra had already informed me that the SOP for such situations is for the company to bear the extra cost.

DBS Singapore and the Valid Before Cheque

On the upper left hand corner, it stated: Cheque is valid before 15 December 2011.

I learned something today, 28 December 2011, and so did the staff at the HSBC Cubao branch. Check issued checks more closely for this particular phrase. If it has the phrase “Cheque is valid before [date],” then it means that the check must be with the drawee bank the day before said date, in this particular case, it must be with DBS Singapore by 14 December 2011.

Mr. Quickie SM Cubao Lends Me Tsinelas (Eye)

While attending a class on 25 December 2011 at Fitness First SM Megamall after an almost two-week absence, I registered the squelch of flapping rubber shoes. When I checked the bottom of both shoes, I was dismayed to discover that the soles were coming off.

Although I obviously needed a new pair, the thought of spending thousands after the holidays was just too daunting, so I went to Mr. Quickie at SM Cubao.

I showed one of the damaged shoes to the Mr. Quickie staff member and asked if it can still be fixed, since it’s already the second or third time that the sole has needed gluing.

I Received My Singapore Check via the Quezon City Post Office

By the time my siblings had finished enumerating the ways by which my check from Singapore can be stolen and how my identity can be compromised in order to claim the funds from my foreign check, my heart had sunk with hopelessness.

About three weeks ago, my former employer, Resorts World Sentosa, had informed me that the Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) had a check for me, a tax refund of sorts from the amount I paid on November 2010 when my contract expired and I flew back to the Philippines.

French Baker Cashier with the Stinky Eye (Ire)

I passed by French Baker in SM Cubao to buy my regular English Muffins, which cost Php 76. I gave the cashier Php 500 and the cashier asked if I had smaller bills. Since my remaining cash will not be enough to cover the Php 76 cost, I said, “Wala po.”

The cashier gave me the stinky eye for not having the necessary amount and requested for Php 5. She made faces as she finished ringing up my purchase.
