Monique Wilson and Leo Valdez Star in The King and I
Miss Saigon alumni Monique Wilson and Leo Valdez will star in Resorts World Manila’s (RWM) production of Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I, creating a wonderful opportunity for modern audiences to listen to enchanting numbers such as Getting to Know You, I Whistle a Happy Tune, We Kiss in the Shadow and Shall We Dance.
However, a word of caution. If you bring your children, explanations must be forthcoming regarding polygamy, slavery, etc. And, since The King and I opened on Broadway in 1951, one must expect slower pacing compared to what audiences are used to today.
The King and I will open at the RWM’s Newport Performing Arts Theatre on Newport Boulevard, Pasay City on 15 September 2012. Tickets are already available on Ticketworld.
