Emma Thompson Gives Up Harry Potter for Nanny McPhee

It is almost unthinkable that anyone would give up a role in the Harry Potter franchise (I would be so happy just being a part of the ensemble), unless, of course you’re Oscar winner Emma Thompson, and you have your own series to attend to, and in her case, it’s the enchanting Nanny McPhee
Since being Professor Trelawney would be in conflict with being Nanny McPhee, the talented actress, who also served as scriptwriter for the film, opted to tackle the latter role, which she describes as a sort of James Bond character.
[Nanny McPhee's] sort of like my James Bond in a way — she’s this person who can solve things in a very interesting, intricate kind of way,” says Emma. “And I like the fact that she always knows that the children are perfectly capable of doing it for themselves. As a parent, I know how easy it is to fall in the trap of thinking, ‘I’ve got to solve it for my children. I’ve got to think of things. I’ve got to be responsible,’ and actually that’s not the best way at all.
