Repertory Philippines Equus Features Directorial Debut of Audie Gemora

When Repertory Philippines announced its 2010 season line-up, the most exciting production that caught my eye was, of course, Equus

And then, when I learned that thespian Audie Gemora was going to direct it, I emailed publicist extraordinaire Oliver Oliveros, asking whether it was Audie’s directorial debut for a straight play, since I only remember Audie directing musicals.

Oliver was kind enough to keep my question in mind, and, answered my question in his Broadway World column:

Seasoned theatre actor but first-time straight play director Audie Gemora (”Sweeney Todd”, “Man of La Mancha”) assembles a powerhouse cast in this incarnation of Shaffer’s masterpiece headlined by two young and promising thespians Red Concepcion (”Altar Boyz”, “Romeo & Bernadette”) and Marco Mañalac (”Nickelodeon”, “Myx VJ Search”) alternating as the deeply disturbed seventeen-year-old Alan Strang.

Audie Gemora is flanked by his two lead actors, Red Concepcion and Marco Mañalac, on opening night last 09 July 2010 at OnStage Theater.
