Legally Blonde Stars Nikki Gil & Geneva Cruz Do Their Theatre Homework
From the first note of the very first song of Nikki Gil, you can already tell she did her homework.
Since the announcement that the young starlet was going to play Elle Woods in the Atlantis production of Legally Blonde, I think eyebrows were raised in confusion, including mine. The fear with TV stars treading the boards is that, most of the time, they’re unprepared for the demands of theater, an indication that they’re not willing to put in the time involved to acquire new skills.
Happily, such is not the case with Nikki Gil, who used the months prior to the Meralco Theater run of Legally Blonde to increase her vocal and physical stamina, as well as gain the stage presence that is so opposite that of TV and film requirements.
Speaking of physical stamina, singer Geneva Cruz was equally impressive as exercise guru Brooke Wyndham in the Broadway musical, as she flexed her vocal and muscle cords for the role.
Congratulations to both Legally Blonde stars Nikki Gil and Geneva Cruz for a job well done! And, definitely looking forward to Rachel Alejandro in the next Atlantis production — Xanadu
