Jamie Cullum Goes Offstage and Cries A River at Pursuit World Tour 2010 Singapore

At one point during the Jamie Cullum concert at the Concert Hall in the Esplanade Theatre on 13 April 2010, the sprightly singer jumped off the stage and was followed by his band, still carrying their instruments, which included what Jamie has dubbed an “oversized violin” (double bass).

Everyone was befuddled as to what Jamie was up to as he camped on the aisle on the side, about 60 feet away from the stage, craning their necks from all directions to see what he would do. The patrons in the front section were forced to stand and turn around if they wanted to still watch the singer-songwriter as he did a mash up of the jazzy blues ballad Cry Me A River and the Justin Timberlake pop version.

When Jamie and his band returned to the stage, he encouraged the “party people” to come up front and form a pit basically. His intentions became very clear at that point. He had the whole house on its feet. He had broken the “seating protocol” as the concertgoers from different sections on the first level mingled with each other. He had increased the excitement level to a fever high pitch. He had everyone on the palm of his hand, ready to do his bidding…

I am so buying tickets down there next time when Jamie Cullum goes back to Singapore (I was in the balcony section).
