Chuckles — Two Pinches on St. Patrick’s Day
Wearing a green and gray striped shirt, an American Universal Studios Singapore co-actor walked backstage on 17 March 2010, calling out jubilantly to everyone, “Happy St. Patrick’s Day!”
Another American co-actor playfully pinched our Singaporean SM or stage manager. She yelped.
I asked curiously, “What’s that for?”
It turns out that not wearing anything green on St. Patrick’s Day, an Irish holiday, merits a pinch.
Since I was already wearing my costume for the Donkey Live show, which happens to be in shades of red and bergundy, I put up my arm for the traditional pinch.
A couple of hours later, another American co-actor arrives and asks, “Lorna, are you by any chance wearing green underwear?”
Silently, I raise my arm for the proverbial pinch. Two pinches in one day.
As I took off my costume, I realized belatedly that I was indeed wearing green — a mint green tennis skirt that I wore under my bergundy costume.
Universal Studios Singapore has its soft opening today 18 March 2010.
