Guardian Pharmacist via Computer Video Chat (Eye)
When I went into Guardian, the counterpart of Mercury in Singapore, on the evening of 28 February 2010, I was met with an empty counter at the pharmacy section. Thankfully, one of the Guardian staff members was a Filipina, who assured me that I can still get what I need despite the absence of the pharmacist. All she needed to do was to log in so that she can go behind the counter.
Bemused by her explanation, I waited as she tapped on the keyboard of the computer. Then she turned the monitor towards me. Confused, I stared at her.
Katherine, the Filipina Guardian staff member, explained that the lady on the monitor was a pharmacist, who was online to ask me some questions regarding my condition.
After informing her that I had a dry cough, etc., she gave her recommendation. At her direction, Katherine got the medicine behind the locked cabinets. And then I trotted off to pay.
When I went online to visit the Guardian website, it was to learn that the webcam pharmacy is one of their latest innovations.
