The Spy Next Door Film and its Inappropriate Premise

A spy who wants to retire from the dangerous world of espionage in order to have a normal life is a familiar one. However, when that spy, disguised as a “regular” person, is given the responsibility over three children by their mother, who also happens to his girlfriend, it becomes a matter of great concern.
How a mother can blithely leave her children to a stranger is beyond belief, a fact made even more appalling when it’s revealed that an aunt is available and willing to take care of the children in her absence while she takes off to take care of an emergency.
Thus, all the scenes that are supposed to be touching between Jackie Chan’s character and the three children become, in my mind, horrific episodes of inappropriate situations, making me squirm in total discomfort.
