Chuckles — Fiona and the Bird
One side of my flat in Singapore faces a canopy of trees that attracts a number of chirping birds. When the sun dapples through the leaves, the whole picturesque scene reminds me of a Fiona number from the Shrek musical — Morning Person — which occasionally makes me burst into song.
Good morning birds
Good morning trees
Oh what a lovely day
The suns so big it burns my eye
But really that’s okay
Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep

One day, while I was climbing the open stairs to get to my flat, a bird suddenly swooped in my direction and hurled something at my feet. I bent down to pick it up. It was a one inch in diameter bread crumb.
I was laughing all the way inside my flat. I’d like to think that the bread crumb was a gesture of friendship.
