These rewards were listed in conjunction with buying a Kababayan card — the SingTel SIM card targeted for the Pinoy subscriber in Singapore.

Thanks to helpful Filipinos in Lucky Mall on Orchard Rd., it was clarified to me that I need not buy a Kababayan card in order to avail of the special call rates. With my present regular SingTel SIM, the lower call rates will be automatically applied if I buy a regular Top Up card.

I was currently using the SingTel Bonus Top Up S$30 card, which only costs S$15, but charges almost S$1/min for a Singapore to Philippines call, a far cry from the 16-34 cents/min rate offered with the use of the regular Top Up card.

So, I bought the regular SingTel Top Up card immediately. And now, I feel much better about calling home. I’m crossing my fingers that the FREE 75 Global SMS will also apply.

Update: I made a call to the Philippines with my regular top up card. It’s still S$1/min. I think I have to buy a Kababayan SIM card.
