As scene after scene of torture and murder were enacted by the character of Gerard Butler against those who killed his wife and child in the film The Law Abiding Citizen, I kept exclaiming excitedly under my breath to my movie buddy, “I love it!”
Later, he told me that other nearby moviegoers were stealing glances at me, probably perturbed that such gore could elicit such a pleased reaction. Oh well. I will credit it for my need for vigilante porn, when justice needs to be made real in the realm of fantasy.
