Reading film credits makes one aware of the roles the actors play in a film, and, once in a while, provides some pleasant surprises, like, the fact that Dick van Dyke played a couple of roles in the Disney film classic Mary Poppins — the lively and bouncy Bert and the dour bank director Mr. Dawes Senior
Therefore, to learn that Dick van Dyke is reprising the Mr. Dawes Senior role for the theatrical version of Mary Poppins that’s running at the Ahmanson Theatre in L.A. till 07 February 2010 is a pleasure indeed. Plus, to hear Dick van Dyke still energetically chattering away in his Entertainment Tonight interview is just charming. And the man is 84 years young! What a consummate performer! Love it!
