Invictus Introduces Rugby

Despite the presence of apartheid, the film of Clint Eastwood, starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, did not seem to have much conflict, so, the only thing that gripped my attention was the very unfamiliar brutal sport of rugby.

American Football Rugby strongly reminded me of American football wherein players would tackle and pile up on top of each other, sans the protective material, making me shudder when I imagine being at the bottom of the heap.

Cheerdancing Moves Players were somehow raised into the air to catch the ball, their straight stance reminding me of cheerdancers balancing on top of their team members.

Greco-Roman Wrestling And then, there’s the shoulder to shoulder grip in rugby that had opposing teams forming a circular pattern as they pushed against each other, a position reminiscent of Greco-Roman wrestling wherein there is hardly any movement since rivals are evenly matched in strength and skill.
