It is a challenge to be able to watch any Spanish DVD in Singapore. Las Lillas, the official affiliate of Instituto Cervantes in Singapore, cannot lend out any of its DVDs because the video material would be considered too risqué, and, therefore, against the law.

The Spanish TVe channel that runs 24/7 in the Philippines is not available in the lineup of cable channels being offered here in Singapore.

It was my sister who thought of a solution. She reminded me that certain TV series on DVD may have Spanish subtitles and dubbing.

So, to be able to practice my listening comprehension for my Spanish classes, I discovered that the Scrubs TV series has excellent Spanish dubbing, so, I listen to the shows in Spanish with English subtitles. And then, for my reading comprehension, I watch The West Wing TV series in English and read the Spanish subtitles. A bit roundabout, true, but, one must be flexible.
