The Lure of the Starbucks Chair

Starbucks Fully Booked Serendra

I had been avoiding going to Starbucks in Singapore because the prices are approximately 30% higher than in the Philippines, but, finally, on 25 November 2009, I succumbed, primarily because the thought of lounging in the familiar Starbucks chair was too tempting, especially after a long day.

I had arrived at Changi Airport around 1am, slept a little, wrote for the blogs, went to rehearsals, dropped by the National Library, and, by late afternoon, was killing time before my 7pm Spanish class, which I had to study and write an assignment for. And, quite frankly, my eyes were drooping from fatigue, increasing the lure of the Starbucks chair, and with the siren call of the Starbucks drink and the friendly baristas, just became too irresistible.

Armed with the sugar from the strawberry jam, the butter from the croissant and the plain butter, the chocolate and coffee from the Java Chip Frappuccino, I managed to stay awake and participate in my 7-9pm Las Lillas Instituto Cervantes certified Spanish class before finally heading back home.
