I will definitely miss the Repertory Philippines production of Sweeney Todd, in both the literal meanings of the word. Miss as in will not be able to catch it and miss as in feeling bereft at not being able to watch one of my favorite Stephen Sondheim creations, most especially since the lead roles are going to be essayed by Philippine musical theatre’s royal couple — Audie Gemora and Menchu Lauchengco Yulo — whose onstage chemistry is just sizzling in whatever they do.
So be sure to catch and watch one of the most brilliant works of Stephen Sondheim. “Sweeney Todd” play dates are from November 14 to December 13, 2009 with additional matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at Onstage, 2/F Greenbelt 1, Ayala Center Makati City.
