Jon Santos in the PDOS or Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar Video
Just a day after attending the PDOS or Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar for OFWs that was conducted by the PASEI or Philippine Association of Service Exporters Inc. in Manila, I spotted Jon Santos at Cravings Restaurant Shangri-La Mall in Ortigas Center. I was tempted to approach him but negated the idea immediately.
But, the universe was very kind. After my voice lesson at Trumpets Musicademy, I was seated in the lobby area when out came of another cubicle but Jon Santos himself. I grabbed the opportunity to thank him for his video work in the PDOS seminar.
What I thought would be a very short conversation lengthened for Jon Santos was genuinely interested in the fact that the video was still being used for educational purposes. He described several characters and situations that he shot, and I informed him that I only remember a nerdy character with glasses as well as his “real” self explaining how to get through the airport procedures.
Jon Santos surmised that the video must have been edited, and, I told him that his video was being shown at least twice a day for PASEI estimates that 3,000 OFWs are leaving the Philippines daily. The PDOS seminar is a prerequisite for any OFW and cannot go abroad without it, for the PDOS certificate is verified before checking in.
