digital spy reports how E.T. star Drew Barrymore turned to her former director, Steven Spielberg, when it was time for feedback regarding her debut film Whip It
The 34-year-old, who played Gertie in Spielberg’s blockbuster 1982 hit E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, said that she was filled with trepidation at the prospect of sharing her work with him.
She told Parade: “It was terrifying for me. But he gave me great notes. In the end, I followed every single one of them. But it was a long process of getting there.
“You just don’t want to do what somebody says – even if it’s Steven Spielberg.”
On 02 October 2009, Hollywood producer and director Steven Spielberg further showed his support for fledgling director Drew Barrymore by attending the Los Angeles premiere of Whip It at Grauman’s Chinese Theater, where roller skating leading lady Ellen Page joined the two Hollywood veterans.
