Pizza Hut Bistro Megamall Server & Standard Practices (Ire)
It was my family’s first time to dine at Pizza Hut Bistro Megamall (located at the third floor walkway) on 20 September 2009. At the end of the meal, my sister and I made some suggestions regarding following some standard practices.
Serve on the Right and Clear on the Left This particular practice, I think, is mainly about traffic and respecting personal space. When the Pizza Hut Bistro Megamall male wait staff member served on the left side and cut across the chest area to put it on the right side of my sister, not only did he not observe protocol, but, it was a definite violation of personal space. The wait staff has to be careful about these important little details, especially with female customers.
Dissemination of Correct Information Upon being served her espresso, my sister immediately questioned the presence of foam and the light brown color. The same male wait staff member mentioned above informed her that Pizza Hut Bistro serves their espresso with milk. He said that the only black coffee the restaurant has is the Americana.
I requested for the manager and asked whether they have diverted from the international definition of espresso. Ms. Marilou Marquez reassured us that the Pizza Hut Bistro espresso should not have contained any milk, at which point I suggested that maybe next time the waiter could have just said, “Ma’am, I’ll find out,” instead of insisting on information that proved to be incorrect. Of course, the espresso was replaced.
Manager Material I also commended wait staff member Jen, who was very open about the suggestion we made to her earlier, and had the courage to take responsibility for her actions to the point that she even offered a feedback form if we wanted to document the incident. I told Ms. Marilou Marquez that Jen’s passion for her work and her bravery definitely made her manager material.
