In My Life Film Surprises

In My Life Has Lots of Comedy I was apprehensive about watching In My Life on 19 September 2009 because I wasn’t in the mood for a tear jerker. Surprise! In My Life had lots of moments that were very amusing, and, it’s not based on slapstick physical comedy, but on character revealing sequences, which made it even more astounding.

Vilma Santos is on a Whole New Level My respect for the Star for All Seasons has gone up on a whole other level. Dramatic turns coupled with comic timing plus a very truthful and real characterization of a set in her ways cantankerous mother makes In My Life, in my opinion, her best piece of work.

John Lloyd Cruz Has Most Intense Cinematic Relationship Yet I’ve only seen John Lloyd Cruz paired with Bea Alonzo and Sarah Geronimo, but, his character’s relationship with Luis Manzano resonated with such quiet truth that it made people giggle and laugh (partially in discomfort) as the two actors cavorted like two people in love onscreen. And, may I say that Lloydie’s googly love struck eyes and glances at Mark (Luis’ character) were so KILIG!

Luis Manzano Acts To his credit, Luis Manzano was in good form as he acted alongside his real and reel mother Vilma Santos, especially in his dramatic picnic scene.

Perfect Script for Vilma Santos and John Lloyd Cruz The question of which came first, the chicken or the egg, also comes to mind while watching In My Life. The Olivia M. Lamasan directed film is such a perfect vehicle for Vilma Santos and John Lloyd Cruz that, I think, the script was created for the two stars, yet, its very perfection and suitability for the highly anticipated pairing also makes me marvel, for if I had not known any better, I would have assumed that the script was written first with the intent of any scriptwriter — to tell an excellent story on film.
