How Taylor Swift Turned a Kanye West Lemon into VMAs Lemonade
Taylor Swift had basically just said that she never thought she would win a VMA award because she’s a country music singer when Kanye West stormed the stage during her acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs on 13 September 2009, got the mike from the singer and said Beyonce’s video is the best, thus, declaring indirectly that Taylor Swift should not have won the VMA award.
After his tirade, Taylor Swift looked stunned for a moment and was unable to speak, which led her being escorted off stage. Later, she performed as scheduled.
When Beyonce received one of her three awards for the night, she narrated how getting her first Moon Man when she was 17 meant so much to her and invited Taylor Swift back onstage to finish her acceptance speech.
By not lashing out at a detractor and being a professional in the sense that she had ‘The show must go on’ attitude, Taylor Swift, in one fell swoop, elicited the protective instincts and admiration of the majority, who openly slammed the action of the male singer through twitter and interviews.
And, as seen in the video interview above from CNN, Taylor Swift continues the class act by refusing to say anything negative about Kanye West, but, focused on her own reaction through a truthful but non-inflammatory comment of “not being excited anymore” after the interruption.

But a night that was dedicated to Michael Jackson will now be remembered as the night Kanye c—blocked Taylor Swift. In other words, Kanye disserviced everyone. Janet delivered an angry, emotional, unforgiving performance. And no one is talking about it.
