Dulaang UP Sexily Romps with Amphitryon
With a title like Amphitryon and a playwright named Heinrich Von Kleist, I was expecting a play weighing heavily with tragic elements. Instead, I was laughing loudly at a comedy of mistaken identities, unbridled lust, and, most definitely, sex.
At the end of the play, on a light note, the question may be, ‘Would you be able to identify your partner’s touch if someone masqueraded as him?’
On a graver note, ‘Is it adultery when one has been deceived? Was it rape? What of the child that is born of such a duplicitous union?’
Catch the antics of flashing red panties, hinubad na longganisa and garlic rice, a multi-colored “stick” and karaoke ditties with the Jose Estrella directed play at the Wilfrido Ma.
