In general, nothing. Talk about the situation with close friends who understand the meaning of confidentiality, so that any ranting or venting that you may do will not go around. The entertainment industry, or, any industry for that matter, is always small, and, any comments you make can be highly misinterpreted, or, the whole situation can be blown out of proportion if not put in the proper context.

For example, an ongoing recasting issue in The Twilight Saga resulted in a written brawl of studio said actor said. It started with a startling announcement that a female actor was being replaced by another actor. The day after, the replaced actor, Rachelle Lefevre, made a passionate statement.

I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part… I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the ‘Twilight’ audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me.

The danger of mentioning contracts, like any TV legal drama has shown, is that it will open the statement for questioning. Summit Entertainment, the studio behind The Twilight Saga, basically accused the New Moon starlet of breach of contract in reply to her official statement.

Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

Now, there are rumors that lawyers will be brought in to do most of the talking and negotiating.

Lesson: Keep your mouth shut until you get advice from a lawyer, if you’re so inclined to take a course of action.
