Lack of Araneta Coliseum Ushers During Lady GaGa Concert (Ire)

We only bought our General Admission tickets the night before the concert, and, by then, we had been informed that the concert was sold out except for that section.

On the night of the Lady GaGa concert, 11 August 2009, we came in about 7.40pm for the scheduled 8pm concert, and the section’s best seats in the gallery were already taken, forcing us to sit facing the side of the stage.

However, the seats were still acceptable and good enough for us. At least, we were able to sit, because, people were still coming in after us and standing on the aisles or at the very last row. But, things changed when the Lady GaGa concert began at 9.25pm.

Suddenly, people were clambering to straddle the fence that separated the General Admission section from the next level. They totally blocked our view as well as other patrons. >:< The uncomfortable position sent them down to the much more expensive level. The first three who did so were followed by numerous ones who would first try to sit on the fence and then give up by jumping down.

I think people didn't know that there was a second entrance opposite from where we were, and, which still had a lot of space left for concertgoers. There were two ushers by the turnstiles to check the General Admission tickets, but, I think a couple more ushers would have been a lot of help because the people had the mistaken notion that there was only one entrance, and when they couldn't get past the stairs, they got aggressive and took matters into their own hands. The ushers could have stood at the entrance and directed the concertgoers as to where to go.

What was also disappointing was the fact that a couple of security guards already passed the area during the period in between the opening act and the Lady GaGa concert, when people were trying to test the fence by climbing up. There was, approximately, 20 minutes to correct the situation, but, they didn't.
