Lady GaGa Live in Manila 2009

Lady GaGa

The first time I saw Lady Gaga perform was at the Ellen Degeneres show. My curiosity had been piqued with frequent sightings of the upcoming singer in entertainment blogs wearing outlandish outfits that seemed to blur real life and the stage.

I was mesmerized as the camera caught her standing in her 4-5 inch heels on the piano bench. And then, she bent over from the waist to start tinkering with the keys on the piano while singing on the mike her signature hit ‘Poker Face.’

From the piano bench, she slithered down to join her male back up dancers in a routine that had her singing and grooving while wearing an impossible to see through hat, a sculptural piece that defied her movement and stayed anchored on top of her head till the end of the number.

I inwardly shouted ‘Bravo!’ for Lady GaGa was obviously a performer who took her craft seriously.

And to hear her speaking so warmly to Ellen and telling her how much she admired the groundbreaking actor and host clinched it for me. I’ll most probably be watching the Lady GaGa concert at the Araneta Coliseum on 11 August 2009 at the General Admission section, where a ticket costs Php 525 (inclusive of additional charges).
