IMAX SM North EDSA Ticket Refund (Eye)

My inquiry whether my reservation could be upgraded to other reserved seats that were not availed of brought SM North EDSA Cinema Operations Supervisor May Cancino to the ticket counter at The Block on 16 July 2009.

With her excellent advice, I was able to purchase seats for the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on 19 July 2009 that were much better than had been reserved under my name. I paid with my credit card.

When I inquired regarding the location of the IMAX theatre, Ms. May Cancino generously offered to show the way even though it turned out to be practically on the opposite side from where we were.

However, that walk turned out to be most fortunate for me, because, our casual conversation unearthed the fact that only the first 12 minutes of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will be in 3D!

I explained that my first 3D experience at the IMAX theatre Mall of Asia — Beowulf — involved the film in its entirety, and, this new bit of information was shocking and disappointing for me, since the main reason I had purchased the IMAX tickets was with the expectation that the film would be in 3D.

Moreover, the Harry Potter screening was an advanced birthday celebration for me, since I ritually treat my family to the wizard boy’s adventures. I had also been looking forward to the gasps of my niece and nephews when the wizards and witches zoomed their brooms towards the audience in the Quidditch scenes.

Ms. Cancino was sympathetic and offered to try and get a refund of my seven IMAX tickets. The Accounting Department turned out to be quite flexible and was able to approve the refund.

Thank you very much to Ms. May Cancino and SM North EDSA cinema and administrative staff!

The exasperating thing about the 12 minutes of 3D in HP6 was that the scenes were at the beginning of the movie only. You spend the rest of the movie waiting for nothing.

At least in HP5, the 3D involved the climactic battle in the Ministry of Magic. And that 3D sequence was fantastic and worth the price!
