The Helicopter as a Co-Actor in GMA 7 Rosalinda
It is a force to be reckoned with. Its whipping blades can tear you to pieces. The rushing winds caused by its descent can topple you to your doom.
These realizations dawned on me as the helicopter targeted the Quezon City building helipad that Gian Magdangal and I were on as part of the grand entrance of one of the main characters of the newest series on GMA 7 — Rosalinda
For the first take on 24 June 2009, I foolishly rushed to the helipad, and realized my mistake belatedly. A rush of terror gripped me as I struggled to hold my footing, for it seemed that one step back in concession to the buffeting winds caused by the chopper could easily turn into a series of steps until I pass the approximately six feet distance between the helipad’s edge and where I currently stood, before plummeting to the street below.
Unsurprisingly, for the second take, I informed my other co-actor, Gian Magdangal, that I was going to stay by the stairs where I can grip the railing for safety. He bravely stood where I was awhile ago, and, a part of me wondered in frenzied fascination whether I had the strength to pull him back to safety if he lost his footing.
Fortunately, nothing untoward occurred, and Rosalinda leading man Geoff Eigenmann was able to make his impressive entrance to the party that my character was supposed to be hosting.
