John and Yoko Cold Wait Staff (Ire)

The female wait staff of the John and Yoko Restaurant at Greenbelt 5 are strikingly pretty with their calf high black boots, short gray mini-skirt with slit, and severe top. They definitely set a different tone to the restaurant scene.

What I also noted with the John and Yoko hostesses, waitresses and waiters was the level of coldness with which they served the diners, which was unusual in a service and food establishment. My companion suggested it might be part of the whole act. I decided to ask management.

I was able to speak with Ms. Joy on 25 June 2009 at around 1pm after my friend had already paid for the meal as a birthday blowout (Thanks again, Chi!).

I informed her that it was my first time to visit John and Yoko, but, my friend is a regular. Regarding my question whether the somewhat haughty and cold demeanor was part of the act, Ms. Joy replied in the negative. I did commend one of the wait staff for keeping an eye out on her section, which included our table, although she needs to be reminded to ask whether she can take away a dish or not before whisking it off the table.

And, to cap a very strange dining experience, as we were leaving, the John and Yoko hostess by the door suddenly beamed a very warm smile as we exited, which was completely the opposite of the welcome I had as I entered the premises. I couldn’t help suspecting it was the result of seeing the manager and I conversing.

Going online, I find out that I’m not the only one who has noted the unsatisfying service at John and Yoko. However, when I learn that the owner of John and Yoko is the same as Sumo Sam, where service is so abominable that my sister and I have never come back after experiencing atrocious and inept service from the manager herself, it is not surprising.
