Philippine theatre will always be indebted to Avon Philippines for being a staunch supporter of the arts during a certain period of its history. Hardly any show would be complete without the presence of the Avon ladies who would tirelessly put on the makeup on the corps of actors.
Tony and Olivier Award recipient Lea Salonga herself has fond memories of Avon.
Not everyone knows this but I started using Avon products when I was just a seven-year-old budding stage actress at Repertory Philippines. It was my mom who introduced me to the brand and since then Avon has been a staple item in my kikay kit. So when I started doing plays at West End and eventually on Broadway, the habit stuck. I used Avon products to help keep me look great on and off stage. Indeed, I consider myself growing up with Avon.
It’s with great pleasure to learn that Avon has renewed its ties with Philippine theatre, albeit, indirectly through its choice of endorser for its latest product — Lea Salonga. Avon General Manager Bob Briddon explains.
As the face of Anew Rejuvenate, Lea represents the Filipina at its most beautiful—naturally charming, disarmingly gracious, and remarkably flexible—whether as a hands-on mother, a supportive wife, or a resourceful worker.
