GMA 7 Rosalinda Casts Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann as Leads

On 17 June 2009, I had the pleasure of meeting Gian Magdangal again, this time on the set of the Filipino adaptation of the Mexican telenovela Rosalinda, and he kindly gave me a brief summary of the story line that mimics the famous Cinderella fairy tale.

Cast in the lead role of Rosalinda is the granddaughter of “Delia Razon, great LVN beauty of the late ’40s to mid-’50s,” and daughter of former heartthrob Ray ‘PJ’ Abellana.

Carla Abellana recently revealed her excitement in landing the well-known and beloved role in an interview with GMA TV, in which GMA executives also expressed their confidence of the young star’s potential.

Another well known member of a celebrity family who’s been cast in Rosalinda is Geoff Eigenmann, who “is third generation of the Mesa-Gil clan of actors. Grandparents are Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil. Son of Filipino actors Michael De Mesa & Gina Alajar. Nephew of Filipino actors Mark Gil and Cherie Gil.”

Directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes and Gil Tejada, Rosalinda is set to premiere on Philippine television on 06 July 2009.

    I happen to chance an episode and what caught my attention was the lead actors’ speech defect. Was the original actor also had the same hard time talking? I wonder why was the role given to that man? Just a comment.

    Carla si so pretty and beautiful. she deserves to be the Filipino version of Rosalinda. there’s no point to compare carla to marian rivera, as they’re both pretty actreses and assets of GMA 7. im sure both shows of marian and carla will have good ratings. Taob na naman ang Kapamilya. ano kaya pantapat nila sa darna at rosalinda?
