From being drawings on an Oscar Award winning film for Best Animated Feature, Shrek and Donkey were transformed to characters performing live in a Tony Award winning musical, and with the daughter of a legendary singer taking over the role of the feisty princess Fiona, the actors proved to have embodied the characters’ generosity and propensity to be involved with danger. At least, that’s how injured singer Bret Michaels recalls it.
All I remember is Shrek and the Donkey helping me up, and Liza [Minnelli] giving me a towel.
Poison lead singer Bret Michaels was referring to the incident when he got hurt during a set change when a set piece at the 2009 Tony Awards descended and hit the rock star as he was exiting the stage, resulting in a broken nose and three stitches to his lip.
