SM Supermarket M.O.B. Environmental Movement (Eye)
I was asked by the cashier at the SM Supermarket branch if I had my own bag or MOB. When I replied ‘No,’ she asked if it’s alright for my groceries to be put in paper bags or a box. Since I was still going to run more errands and my items were of the heavy type, I did not relish the thought of having my hands kept under the brown parcels, so, I replied in the negative again.
The SM Supermarket cashier then offered another option, which is to pay for a plastic bag for Php 3, which, of course, confused me since it is customary for groceries to be bagged in that manner.
She explained that every Wednesday is M.O.B. day in all SM Supermarket branches, wherein shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags, and, all payments for plastic bags will be donated to an environmental cause. Put that way, it seemed more acceptable to pay the Php 3.
And then, I remembered the SM environmentally friendly green bags. When I inquired about that particular item, it seems that on Wednesdays, the green bags are 50% off since they are on a Buy One Take One basis.
I took advantage of the offer and I am now the owner of two environmentally friendly bags from SM Supermarket, which, incidentally, means that I will accumulate additional SM Advantage points every time I use the bags for my purchases in SM Supermarket
