Vanessa Hudgens Becomes A Beauty in Beastly

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is set to break another barrier. After her stint as Sleeping Beauty for a Disney magazine launch, Vanessa Hudgens is slated to star as Beauty in the modern day version of Beauty and the Beast, now entitled Beastly

Entertainment Tonight gives a synopsis of the film’s retelling of the classic fairy tale.

Set in Manhattan, the movie tells the story of a handsome rich kid with a mean streak. When he ditches a date, a curse is placed upon him, turning him into everything he hates. The grotesque transformation leaves him with the seemingly impossible task of finding true love to break the ugly spell.

The film is scheduled to shoot in Montreal Canada in the Summer/Fall of 2009.
