Chuckles — A Cancer Wish

As a party host, I usually ask the children to say out loud their wishes on the mike before singing the Happy Birthday song for the birthday celebrant. If the children are a bit shy, I start the ball rolling by making the first wish.

In one party, when nobody raised their hand to volunteer, I wished that the birthday celebrant would always have great friends. Fascinated with the concept of friendship, the children who consequently said their wishes focused on the idea and its variations… Except for one child.

When it was his turn, he was silent for several seconds. Smiling and nodding my head to encourage him, the young boy finally blurted out, “I wish that she would not get cancer!”

As the laughter died down, I immediately agreed, “Yes! We hope that she will be healthy forever!”
