Avenue Q London Set to Reopen on June 2009

Variety has confirmed that the hit musical Avenue Q will be reopening at the Gielgud Theater on 01 June 2009 after its last show at the Noel Coward Theater on 28 March 2009.
Avenue Q London was originally set for closure, as has been the fate of numerous Broadway and West End productions in the face of the global economic recession.
The decision to reopen was brought about by Les Miserables and Ms. Saigon producer Cameron Mackintosh who observed that “the show’s last four months of sales” were “the best yet for the 2½-year-old production.”
Hopefully, Filipina West End star Joanna Ampil, who recently essayed the role of Christmas Eve, will still be part of the production.
(Update: Girlie Rodis has confirmed that Jo will be part of the June 2009 run. Break a leg!)
