Clint Eastwood Film Gran Torino Not Suitable for Pre-School Kids

As the violent themes of Clint Eastwood’s film Gran Torino unfolded on the screen, I couldn’t help being disturbed by the fact that there were two young children in the movie theater watching the gun fire, beatings, kidnapping attempts, suicide, as well as listening to the profanity.
The children seemed to know they were not supposed to be there either as the approximately six-year-old in front of us paced in his row and managed to persuade his adult companion to go out at least twice.
The other child was at our back, but, we would hear her cry out intermittently during the film. At the end, when her group walked down the aisle to exit, I estimated her age to be four.
When we made our own exodus, we checked the movie poster and found that the rating for Gran Torino is P11, so anyone below that age may go in as long as accompanied by an adult.
Although it would be great to open up your child’s perspective, I think Gran Torino would be more suitable for those who are almost teenagers, not pre-school children.
IMDB gives a plot summary:
Walt Kowalski, [played by Clint Eastwood], is a widower who holds onto his prejudices despite the changes in his Michigan neighborhood and the world around him. Kowalski is a grumpy, tough-minded, unhappy an old man, who can’t get along with either his kids or his neighbors, a Korean War veteran whose prize possession is a 1972 Gran Torino he keeps in mint condition.
When his neighbor Thao, a young Hmong teenager under pressure from his gang member cousin, tries to steal his Gran Torino, Kowalski sets out to reform the youth. Drawn against his will into the life of Thao’s family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them from the gangs that infest their neighborhood.
