Princess Diaries Anne Hathaway Goes Shakespeare
Entertainment Tonight or ET reports that The Devil Wears Prada actor is set to play Viola this summer in the Central Park production of [Shakespeare's] Twelfth Night [in New York City].”
For the role, the Oscar nominee will be donning boy’s clothes since Viola will be disguising herself as a member of the male gender while in the services of Duke Orsino, with whom she falls in love with. A love triangle is unwittingly formed when the Lady Olivia, whom the Duke is courting, believes herself to be in love with Viola.
Wikipedia writes that Anne Hathaway is “a trained stage actress and has stated that she prefers performing on stage to film roles.” (Actually, one can see the theatre training of Anne Hathaway in the film Ella Enchanted where the role required her to sing and dance.)
