Lady GaGa Live in Manila 2009 Mesmerizes with Burlesque Act

Lady GaGa

The Lady GaGa Live in Manila 2009 concert on 11 August 2009 may have only been an hour long, but, the price of admission was totally worth it for her mesmerizing antics with her piano and bench. It reminded me of a raunchy burlesque act that was rife with naughty sensuality, good natured teasing and tongue in cheek humor.

It was the last act in a series that had Lady GaGa changing costumes in between sets, while the audience was kept thrumming with instrumental solos by her band members and short video sequences.

It is a testament to Lady GaGa’s performing abilities, charisma and musicality that she kept the fully packed Araneta Coliseum of an estimated 18,000 people totally glued to her every movement, antic and sung note as she took the stage totally solo with her beautiful clear piano as her partner in crime.

She began with a soulful rendition of Brown Eyes, which tells of a long lost lover. Then Lady GaGa slithers her jacket sexily off and remains in an almost nude state (I’m sure it was a skin tone body suit) as she segues into the popular yet suddenly unfamiliar notes of Poker Face, which she sang in a slower tempo while playing the piano.

Throughout the whole song, Lady GaGa went into provocative positions and movements that had the audience howling. The tamest one would be raising one of her legs while seated on the piano bench and intermittently shaking it. Then it graduated to her legs spread wide apart in a V as she straddled the lowest and highest notes of the piano with her feet. There was also a moment when she squatted on the piano bench and began to hump energetically with her piano playing. And, the funniest and memorable one for me was when she bent from the waist and related throatily that someone once asked her something salacious.

“Lady GaGa, do you have a d—k?”

(Theatrical moment of silence)

“Why, yes, I do…”

The reference to rumors that she has both male and female genitalia was risqué and fantastically shows her sense of humor. LOL. And, with our position facing the right side of the stage, the view was phenomenal because we could clearly see her fabulous figure, leg flexibility (especially with the straddle) and provocative behind.

And, the fact that she told the crowd, “My best friend is from the Philippines,” and narrated how she and her BFF went through the hard times together endeared her enormously to the crowd. Plus, Lady GaGa definitely knew where she was as she worked in the word ‘Manila’ into her spiels and sung lyrics (Paging Britney Spears who said the wrong city during a concert).

Fun, fun, fun night!!! :D
