hi! i’ m not sure if this is the best place to ask this question….

what if i decided not to pay fitness first anymore using card or cash? will they go after me?

im now into boxing and also continue practicing taekwondo.

    thank you

  12. TheBachelorGirl on September 1st, 2008

Yes, you will receive letters from a Fitness First collection agent if you ignore your payments. Simply go to the Front of House of the branch where you became a member and give them a letter stating you wish to cancel your membership so that the billing will stop.

Your credit card standing will be affected otherwise. I’ve posted the details, but do try to submit that letter ASAP.

    hi good afternoon,

your front desk officer– i think he is the frontdesk supervisor of SM north the block. he badly needs customer service 101, i was there last friday with one guest. i already advised a consultant from ortigas center. and he told me just bring my guest anytime sunday.

sunday came sinungitan lang ako ng frontdesk supervisor as he said so.kasi daw i have to make an appoinment which i do so sa ortigas . bottomline papasukin din pala. panget lang if ever hindi na advice ng ortigas he has to settle it internally with them hindi yung members mag suffer at mapahiya sa guest na dinala. panget also is ang sungit sobra dahil new member ako?

lastly nung na endorse kami sa consultant d na need sabihan and parinig sa customers pagalitan staff nya dahil hindi lang na inform daw sa kanya may guest…dapat kausapin nya walang members because unethical din sa staff and napapahiya yung staff nya…other receptionist naman sobra ok kausap kahit hindi supervisor. sorry pa ng sungit sya he is making faces pa….how was he appointed as supervisor if he doesnt know superior customer engagement….ganda ng fitness first but nasisira sa employees like him…i am pissed that day.

thank you and more power to your group.
hope the manager of sm north the block branch will know this because ill write a letter also or ill fill up hey manager card!

I totally agree with kind of customer service that fitness first provided to their customer especially the one assigned in mall of asia. being a receptionist should all have the understanding for their clients. he is so rude and indeliquent. he told me right away that his just doing his job..without listening to my grievances yet… this should be escalated to the management.

  15. yami on September 4th, 2008

sobrang panget ng experiences ko sa fitness first.. laki kasi ng pagkakamali ko na nakapag signed up kami sa kanila fitness first robinson ng passport and almost 18mos contract with them at eto ang problema

when we decided na kaming mag asawa na tumigil sa paggygym kasi magrerelocate kami sa probinsya at nag inquire ako to terminate my membership..di daw pd sabi ng nag assist samin na agent kasi daw need na itransfer sa iba before kami materminate.pd daw ifreeze na lang ang membershp but stil we need to pay 4hund plus para sa freeze fee instead na pay mo ang 2k plus sa knila monthly at ang masakit pa dalawa kami ng husband ko na ayaw bitiwan.

at eto pa pinkamasama, ung mga pdc ko dinideposit ba naman nila ng di mo na ako iniinform kaya tuloy di ko mamonitor na pondohan kasi im just wasting our precious money na bayaran ang fitness first na yan.sobra talagang nakakainis .. ang sobra pang kulit.sana naman they will allow there member na magterminate if reasonable naman ang reasons at di nila pdng pilitin na magbayad na lang na magbayad , sa hirap ng buhay ngayon mas uunahin pa ba yan kesa basic needs sana wag silang masydong makulit at mabawi ko na yong mga checque ko sa knila..

  16. charm on September 7th, 2008

i agree that ff should provide their frontliners (receptionist) the proper training on customer service. napaka expensive ng monthly fee for the clients na sungitan ng mga ff staff. grabe yung sa megamall, mga insensitive. you will feel helpless when you lose your card. parang bahala kang hanapin yun basta u need to return that stupid card to them or else you will be charged P500. imagine if you are not registered at mega, you have to surrender your membership card in exchange of their access card to the locker room. eh ni wala namang safety pin so you can pin to your cloth. i had a pocket so dun ko nilagay, kaso since first time nga to have that access card ( got used of pinning the locker key to my waistband), nahulog siya somewhere. tried to search it around pero wala talaga. it was really a very disappointing experience for me.

  17. dru on September 8th, 2008

grabe naman talaga yang fitness first na yan! dapat i prioritize nila mga clients nila na maging flexible naman sana ung mga plans and contracts nila. kase pano if wala ka pa sa kalahati ng contract mo eh bigla ka nawalan ng work? tapos yung monthly dues dyan continuous, san ka naman kukuha ng pambayad?!

    Hello there!

I’ve tried fitness first in CEbu city. I thought it would be great to enroll in such respectable gym. but, my amazement turned into disapointment because their receptionist/ CS and trainers are unfriendly and unhelpful…They only attend to you when you are a premium member or when you hire a personal trainer. im not looking for 1st class treatment but only what a regular client is suppose to receive. this industry is not only for business but people-business as well. i pity the manager because he seemed to be doing a good job….=)

I think Fitness First is a really good gym – the best gym I’ve tried in my area so far. I don’t know why everyone else is saying the instructors aren’t friendly. I got a personal trainer, he even gave me free sessions after my original set was over. My friend didn’t want a personal trainer, but mine also helped her whenever he could.

Well, the only problem I have with FF is the receptionist (not so friendly). And at first, the one in charge of “recruiting” members was a bit annoying…but I’m glad the calls stopped after a couple days lol. I guess every gym works differently – FF is quite full-on with their marketing tricks. Just a tip: never use your Credit Card when paying.

    Overall I rate FF 8/10.

Poor maintenance of the men’s sauna gym at robinsons place manila. the dry sauna for men is not operating for more than two months. Please do positive action on this.

  41. Rick on January 20th, 2009

Recently I went to Fitness First,Las Pinas and attended for one month as I was on Vacation from Melbourne,Australia. I can honestly say the staff were absolutely wonderful and could not do enough to help you. The Front Receptionists Emilou and Marvine are very, very friendly, polite and courteous.

I can highly recommend Mr Jesse James-Fitness Manager for a Personal Trainer if you require one while there.

Only complaint is more Maintenance on the Sauna, door handle was broken and one of the clients fixed and Steam Sauna smelt bad !!

Otherwise,I would rate 9/10 and will go back for sure.

Great team at Las Pinas !!!!!

    Dear Ma’am, Sir,

I’am putting this person’s attitude to your attention: His name is Oliver Llegunas. He is a sales person at the Robinson metro east Manila Philippines.

I had the same experience with Fitness first only, I managed to stop inquiry even before they con me with their tricky, misleading way of doing their business.

    Please Read the attachement site.

Great to hear that glowing report from Rick… I enrolled at Fitness First in Las Pinas just recently and I have received nothing but very warm reception and friendly attitude from the people I have met there thus far. I’ve been having second thoughts because of the complaints I’ve read on the internet, though none have pointed to the Las Pinas branch (whew!) :-)

  44. Rick on February 23rd, 2009

You will enjoy Las Pinas Fitness First they are the best and the staff should be proud of themselves.

I have told nearly all my friends here in Melbourne,Australia and staff at Fitness First Melbourne Central how they were so kind, friendly and polite ver professional…

    Thank you! :-)

  49. Anishka on March 26th, 2009

i totally agree with those who complain about FF’s receptionists. although i can only speak about robinsons east. usually it’s the ladies who are masusungit. the more pretty they are (or think they are), the more masungit/mayabang. they probably forget that they’re not the boss but the [employees] there. the guys are the ones who are usually accommodating and friendly.

izzy: i don’t think the folks were talking about the trainers as masungit. they’re usually deadma lang (as in, hindi ka papansinin kung hindi ka nila client). otherwise, it’s really the receptionists who are notorious. (btw, am curious why you advised not to pay using credit cards?)

in fairness, i got better treatment at sm north branch (to think they’re not my home branch).

but generally, FF staff (receptionists, PTs, even janitors) need to have some kind of personality development or customer service enhancement seminars. parang mcdo: service with a smile. kahit minsan fake na, at least pinapansin ka at hindi ka parang ghost walking around. afterall, one of FF’s motto has to do with friendship. (forgot exactly)

bachelor girl, thanks for setting this up. the information about the clubs you listed are helpful. xenxa na that we have used it to air our grievances about FF.

  54. TheBachelorGirl on April 29th, 2009

Hi Magic. The best thing to do would be to set an appointment with a membership consultant. You can always negotiate for a lower fee, or wait for a promo or ask if there’s any member who would like to transfer their membership. Good luck. :-)

  56. TheBachelorGirl on May 2nd, 2009

Hi George. There are two in Makati — Fitness First RSC Makati and Fitness First Platinum RCBC. Please look at Page 2 for the details. Thank you.

  57. m-air on May 4th, 2009

    Hi,

I just called Fitness First Platinum RCBC and I just wanted to find out how much the monthly fees are. The membership representative didn’t want to give me the information. She wanted to know my e-mail address, mobile phone number etc. She also wanted me to come in to discuss. My point is, I just wanted to know first the monthly rates and if I like the rates then I will surely come in. You have to understand my time is precious and I don’t want to drive there in order to find out that I don’t like the fees.
This kinda pis—d me off and now Fitness First lost a customer. I know, they don’t care about little oh me, but I had to say this. This is not the right customer treatment.

  58. TheBachelorGirl on May 4th, 2009

    Hi m-air,

FYI, it’s protocol for the membership consultant staff not to give out rates over the phone, and to only discuss it with the potential client in a face to face meeting.

And, fyi, the RCBC rates are higher than the other branches because it’s platinum. To know the differences:

I was in Philippines last December 2006. During my 4 weeks vacation, I decided to join Fitness First Philippines Inc.

I did explain to the person who sign me in that I am just using their facility for a month. He gave me the papers with very fine prints or they called it a “contract” to sign.

Before leaving coming back here (USA), I did told them that my stay in the Philippines is over and will not be using their facility anymore. They told me to put my account on hold with minimal monthly charges. But as the time goes, they resume to debit the full amount to my credit card.

    Fitness First Scam

  64. Anton on June 25th, 2009

I tried working out in one of Fitness First’s branches near my area as a guest. I liked it and planning to have a membership in this fitness center soon. But, one thing caught my attention was these gay people keeps on walking around the locker area. Some of them keeps on hopping from sauna room to steam room. They don’t even stay more than a minute in each room. I’ve been hearing a lot of stories about these people doing it inside those rooms. I am talking about “sexual acts”. This was coming from a friend who’s a fitness first enthusiast. According to my friend, he was offered a “blow job” from that gay guy inside that sauna room but he refused it. I’m a gay too and I do have a partner for almost 4 years but I just hate those people doing it inside this place.

Guys, there is a proper place for flirting and lust and Fitness First is not the right place for this kind of activity. This place is Holy for those who are fitness enthusiasts.

Di na nga tayo masyadong tanggap sa lipunan, binababoy nyo pa ang mga sarili ninyo!

    Hi Kat,

It’s admirable that you’re trying to handle the situation by yourself. However, the fact that you’re a minor may help the situation.

I suggest you speak with your parents about this because they will probably know more about the legalities and can advise you much better.

    Good luck,
    Lorna

    TO ANTON,

    I agree with you.
Some gay guys do workout in a different manner in the gym. And unfortunately they don’t really care if we give in or not.
I suggest that when these guys approach you, just give him a warning or immediately report it to the security guard and manager. They will do the rest.

I have friends who were in that situation and all they did was either to avoid the situation by moving away, punch the guy and/or report it….

And on another note, try searching for your destiny in the gym, who knows he is just there staring at you…. you know what I mean.. enjoyeeeee…

Enrolling in Fitness was one of the biggest mistake in my life. They keep on getting money from their customers every chance they get. The receptionist are rude, the PT keeps on harrassing you so you would get PT (and they don’t even teach you well, there’s no program! they just drag you to one machine to the other, they don’t even keep track of your fitness). And worse of all, they want me extend another month just so I can cancel my account.

I totally agree with you Katherine. Minutes ago, I called my credit card provider only to find out that I have gone over my credit limit because Fitness First Megamall double charged me with whooping 5,175 for the initial fee that’s a total of almost 10, 230.. are they insane? They are not even responsible enough to take care of their clients. I contact the branch and ask for a manager instead the receptionist just made a lame promise that they will take a look into it and the charge is still reversible if ever. But “hello” wala pa kong 1 week nag apply sa fitness first palpak na agad yung billing system nila. And eventhough the charge is reversible, the damage has been done.. npka iresponsable and pabaya nila.. were talking about money here and hindi basta basta yung 10k na charge nila. If I can file a lawsuit complain to them.. I will gladly do it para matigil na ang panggagantso nyo. That is not a good way to do business with people. Just so you know. This is really frustrating.

i hope people here come to their senses (re) fitness first. A lot of typhoon ondoy (ketsana) victims, who happens to be a fitness first member also, tried filling cancellation fee due to livelihood loss.

but you know what fitness first just did? they just sent these poor victims a letter of apology saying they sympathize yet they can’t go out of contract because they still need to fulfill the contract obligation they signed(either 1 year or 18 months) before they can cancel out.

pretty nice of them huh? if you people have no heart at all, and you don’t care and support fitness first, then just go on! you get what you give. but remember this: when time comes you’d be on the losing end needing for some understanding and support, i hope you get to have the same result you’d given to others

May we request to open a FF branch in SM Bacoor, most of Caviteños/ñas go to FF-MOA para mag GYM. Dami kami member na taga-cavite. If you have decided to put up a branch in Pampanga & Cebu please have a branch “naman”in BACOOR. Crowded na sa MOA, nagkakaubusan ng daily locker card after 5pm. You need to wait for available card, siyempre you need to leave your things sa frontdesk ’till late ka sa group exercise. Though i’m a passport member FF MOA ang malapit sa amin pauwi aside from nandun ang terminal ng FX & taxi. Halos lahat nandun sa moa, mga taga paranaque & alabang cyempre accessible siya and no need na makipagbuno ka sa traffic going to alabang & southmall. Hope you can do it for us, club members from cavite.

I’ve been a member year 2005 if i’m not mistaken,My contract with you is only one year. But i was not able to use that due to conflict of time and busy work. I allow you to debit to my creditcard even though i’m not using your facilities because i know that i sign a contract of 1 year. I am waiting for you to stop the debit but i did not notice that it was already running for 3 years and still taking to my credit card acct. I went right away to Fitness First ,Robinson branch to stop the debit since my contract is only one year. I am waiting only for you to stop because I trust you that you will stop anyway because my contract is only 1 year. I ask you and told me that is autorenewal, I told them my contract is only 1 year, why your still getting the money to my Credit card, you dont even bother to ask me if i am going to renew or not. And besides i sign only for 1 year . They dont mention about auto renewal. They have the record that i am absent for 3 years, they dont even bother to ask me.I remember the receptionist that i have to choose ,6 mos. or 12 mos. bec of the discount that why i choose 2 mos only, which is 1 year. How can i get back the 3 years that you get from my credit card.

Im a member of ff here in Ortigas Winsum Tower,I was locked [in a contract] for 12mos and they wasn’t inform me about cancellation policy, but the point is I didnt even use their facilities from the start I signed the contract,I already explained to them that I can’t continue my membership anymore and want to cancel it due to conflict to my schedule from work and school, since then, I thought that they would cancel it but after few months I noticed my payslipt a charge of P1,988 for the mmbership fee and until now they still charging me for the things I didn’t even use. I’ve been in their office several times for the cancellation but they just ignored it, last day one of their acctng officer named MJ called me and telling me that if I want to cancel my membership there will be a cancellation fee of P8,000. , I was very upset because since I signed in they start charging me for nothing and yet they want me to pay this..I hope you understand I did not even use your facilities so PLEASE stop charging me and PLEASE cancel my membership…

The most stupid thing that I could remember was when i brought my friend who is a member but freeze his membership cause he was assigned in singapore for a month. So when he returned he just like to relax first before going to his regular 3times a week routine. But since he hasn’t unfreeze his membership yet, note with intentions to unfreeze just not yet. He tag along to join me in my workout, but unfortunately for some ridiculously rule, a member who freezes his membership is not allowed to use the facilities even with a member making him a guest.
What with the rule? To all you people out there, where is the logic?
A frozen membership that charges 400bucks a month to a person who could not even enter the gym. or
A person totally freeloading on a member without any intention to enroll gets a free workout pass.
this are two different person but guest what the freeloader gets in the frozen membership does not.
Automatic my friend canceled his membership then i followed after a few months, thats another story!!!

DON’T GO TO FITNESS FIRST ALABANG. they’ll scam you. they’ll keep billing you even though you’re done with the contract until you cancel it yourself.
