What Happens to your PLDT Phone Line When You Die

Bills Will Continue PLDT has no problem billing a dead person as long as the bill gets paid. The PLDT customer service representative assured me that it is not unusual for the deceased client’s family not to bother with changing the client’s name, and, consequently, transferring ownership.

Bring the Death Certificate The PLDT customer service representative recounted an odd incident where three siblings jostled to have the same number when their mother passed away. Since the phone number was in her name, all three submitted the requisite death certificate and application form.

Obviously, not all of them can be accommodated.

It was ruled by management that whoever submitted the requirements first would be given the much coveted phone number.

Transfer of Ownership Conditions In the event that you are still alive, and you wish to transfer ownership of your phone line, you may submit to PLDT an authorization letter with a copy of your ID.

Moreover, a fee of Php 300 is charged for the transfer of ownership, and, a period of 60 days is required before the transfer can take effect.
