Bring Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez for the Avenue Q Manila The Farewell Run
Today, 17 January 2008, at 14:35 I got the kind of surprise that only the Internet can bring — an email from one of the composers and lyricists of Avenue Q — Jeff Marx
Email from Jeff Marx “Hi Lorna. I’ve been reading your website. Thank you for all the complimentary things you’ve been saying about Avenue Q. It’s so surreal to witness our work being done halfway across the globe by people we don’t know, and to see such enthusiasm about it. It’s sooooooo cool and amazing.
“I thought about coming down to Manila for the opening of the show there, but it was such a busy time for me, I just couldn’t break away. The first time around I was working under tight deadlines, the second time was the holidays and my family was in town.
“But I’d really love to see what you guys did with the show.
“I didn’t realize there was going to be a “Farewell Run” in June… I’d love to try and attend that one! I’m so glad you’re doing it again and there’ll be another chance to see it.”
The Invitation Of course, I offered, “If you need assistance with your Philippine trip, just let us know, and we will try our very best,” and added, “The shows we have invested in, dubbed as the Spread the Fuzz on Avenue Q Manila shows, will be on 14 June 2008 at 2pm and 21 June 2008 at 8pm, and I just know that everyone will be thrilled to bits if you and Robert Lopez can come and watch the shows.”
What Can You Do Q-mmunity, let’s SPREAD THE FUZZ!!! Let’s persuade Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez (the other composer/lyricist of Avenue Q who happens to be part Pinoy) to come here!
First, please consider writing a comment addressed to Jeff and Robert (aka Bobby). Once the comments reach like a considerable number (how about 50?), I’ll send a link to Jeff so that they can read your notes. (Nothing beats impassioned letters.)
Second, if you have contacts with the airline and hotel industry, and the like; or you want to open your hearth and home, or you want to offer whatever hospitable option, just let me know through:
cranegoddesscorp@gmail.com
llornalopez@gmail.com
NOTE THAT WE CAN SEND THE INVITATION, BUT IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT CAN BE ACCOMMODATED; BUT WHAT THE HECK, LET’S TRY FOLKS!!!

Holy crappolas on a stick and a half! I’m sooooo gonna try to go for the farewell showing. And yay, it’s a Saturday night! That’ll be my 3rd helping of Manila’s Avenue Q in 2 years. Hurrah! I just hope I make it since it’s so close to my sister’s wedding date in Canada.
But what the heck, if Jeff Marx and Bobby Lopez are going to be there, I’m totally up for it! Wouldn’t miss it for anything else. I’m gonna drag everyone. And I do mean EVERYONE! :p
Whoa, HOLY CRAP!
Jeff and Bobby, please, please, please come to Manila! I’d really love to finally meet the brains behind my favorite Broadway musical, and I’m sure I’m not the only one!
WOOT! A farewell run, yay! It’ll be my third time watching, and I’ll bring more friends there. (I brought nine last December, and they all fell in love with the show!)
Please come to Manila, Jeff and Bobby! I’m super proud of the production, every actor is fantastic and hilarious.
P.S. Loved your work on Scrubs’ “My Musical,” too! I keep singing “Everything Comes Down to Poo” at random moments in public. XD
Avenue Q’s songs are really ADDICTING…i find myself singing “It Sucks to be Me” and “Everyone’s A Little Bit Racist” every time i have nothing to do and nothing to say ;p
it will surely be a very, very, very, very (repeat 1Mx) nice and AWEsome experience to see you, Jeff and Bobby…”the brains of Avenue Q” in Manila…
at last, we can see you in flesh not only in the playbill ;p
PLEASE DO COME
:)

Thanks for updating us Lorna,
If the farewell run pushes through on June 2008, put me in your PEOPLE TO INFORM list =) I will try my best to convince my family & friends to watch the show. It’s one of the best plays I’ve seen to date cause it talks so much about the realities of the twenty somethings..
I am not a consultant nor a writer nor a producer nor an artist/actor/actress/whatever. =) I’m just an average Filipino soul who got inspired by the play’s topics albeit the Western concept.
P.S. Lorna & Mr. Bobby Lopez: Out of curiosity, are you related?
P.S.2. Mr. Jeff Marx & Mr. Bobby Lopez, whenever I listen to the album, I would always have an LSS* of the songs.. that whenever I play them in our office, I always introduce it to my officemates (my sister & mom) like I’m attending the special annual Tony Awards for Avenue Q gala night. hehe

*LSS = Last Song Syndrome
**LDR = Long Distance Relationship
God bless the 3 of you (Lorna, Mr. Jeff, Mr. Bobby)
hi Lorna,
I hope Jeff and Bobby can come here. One of my biggest regrets was agreeing to watch Movin Out in New York instead of watching Avenue Q back in 2004. Thankfully the show was brought here.
Thanks for the update on the farewell run, will definitely keep our schedule open for one more round of Avenue Q!
Oops, MAJOR credit also goes to Atlantis production and the staff that made Avenue Q a must-see-play in the Philippines for 2007… and also to the one who introduced & accompanied me to watch the play =)
Uhm, if there’s a meet & greet session, would I be privileged to meet & greet the composers?… Thank you, thank you Atlantis =) hehe
God bless.
Hi Jeff and Bobby!
Make the trip to Manila this June,
and I promise to sing this for you on stage:
“I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs, the music that you like
We’re brothers ’til the end of time
Together or not you’re always in my heart…”
Jeff & Bobby, COME ON DOWN!!!!
Jeff and Bobby, you should witness Filipino talent! Something not to be missed! Love that show- just hits the spot.
i missed the second run, but reading about the farewell run in june 2008 made me giddy with excitement. I’d love to meet the geniuses behind this musical! Please come, Jeff and Bobby!!!
Bobby and Jeff! Hope to see you this June! Avenue Q rocks!!!
There’s nothing like Avenue Q Manila!!! So come and experience Spread The Fuzz!!!
Ooo, that would be fantastic for them to see the show, see how cool it turned out here in the pinas! I hope the folks at Atlantic Productions are pitching in their share of invites to the two brains behind the Q. I could share some miles from my awards account (sorry, northwest lang!) if that would help!
Truly exciting and if they show up, please save me a seat!!!!
Hi Jeff and Bobby
I have always wondered what there is to convince friends/acquaintances who never had any interest in musicals before AQ to watch (and re-watch) this musical. Since my curiosity was piqued, I have attempted 3x (so far) to catch the run here in Manila and even in US but alas, it never happened because of some bizarre situations. Admittedly, I am close to giving up and resign to fate that perhaps, AQ is elusive to me. When I read this news that there will be one last hurrah in June and best, here in Manila, my heart rose.
I will be reliving my hopes for the nth time but not too high lest some bizarre situation hits me again. It will be a great bonus to see both of you here in Manila — then, I will understand why I keep missing my chances. It’s quite funny how you - Jeff - has undergone the same situation like me so I hope the 3rd time is a charm all around for you to be here in Manila (and hopefully mine too!)
Praises Praises Jeff and Bobby! Geniuses of our time. Please Please Please come to see your masterpiece done by Filipino talents.
Hi Jeff and Bobby!
I fell in love with your genius creation from the very moment I heard it. I hear and meet people everywhere, whether in the academic or professional world quote lines from Avenue Q in their everyday lives. Be it just a sucky day, a gay encounter, or a broken heart, Manila audiences love it and simply CANNOT get enough of it! And I’m pretty sure this farewell run will be another hit. We’d all really, really love it if you guys could be here to witness it as well, and also so that many of us could give our many congratulations and words of utter adoration to the both of you. Hope to see you!
