Fitness First Megamall Allows Rated Film Screening (Ire)
Rated Film on the TV Screen It was my unfortunate circumstance to be at the cardiovascular machines section in Fitness First SM Megamall on 05 July 2008 when one of the TV monitors, which was screening a rated film, showed a scene where a trio of girls removed their bikini tops to expose their breasts, and then proceeded to remove their bottoms to reveal their behinds.
Trainers Remain Motionless A group of Fitness First personal trainers and trainers who were in the Personal Trainer section witnessed the scene and the resulting interest it evoked, but remained motionless. I called a female Fitness First trainer over and requested for any member of the management team. When she asked why, I pointed to the TV screen in question.
Conferring with the Club Manager The rated film halted, and was then replaced with another film. My two points with Fitness First Megamall Club Manager Marjorie Ronulo:
A Lack of Professionalism I said that I was disturbed that the group of Fitness First personal trainers and trainers who witnessed the scene did not think that it might be offensive for the Fitness First female clients and that it would lessen the professional atmosphere in the gym.
I pointed out that I even looked in the group’s direction and caught the eye of one of the personal trainers who was watching, but he just looked right back at me and did not make a move to correct the situation.
I suggested that a talk with the Fitness First team about professionalism and to clarify what needs to be done in certain situations might be helpful.
Non-Accountability When First Megamall Club Manager Marjorie Ronulo said that no one in particular is responsible for choosing the films, since it can range from the service maintenance team to the reception to management, I suggested that it might be advisable to have someone accountable for the choice of films to be screened.
