Meet the New Cast Member of Avenue Q Manila & Singapore

Avenue Q Manila & Singapore Cast

Ms. Saigon Alumnus The Avenue Q Manila cast warmly welcomed Carla Guevara, who will take over the much coveted roles of Lucy the Slut and Kate Monster in the Tony Award winning musical Avenue Q during its farewell run in Manila.

For two years, Carla Guevara was part of the Ms. Saigon cast on Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s West End production in London, where she played Kim, the very same role that catapulted Lea Salonga to international stardom.

Television and Film Careers Manila Bulletin reports, “When Carla first returned to Manila [after] her two–year stint in London, she did not only resume her active participation with theater presentations but also embarked on movie and television careers.

On television, Carla appeared in several ABS–CBN and GMA projects. She earned recognition as best new artist for television from the Philippine Movie Press Club in 2000 for her daring and remarkable performance in ABS–CBN’s Star Drama Presents “Burn.” On the big screen, Carla landed juicy roles in films produced by Regal Films and Viva Films.”

Avenue Q Singapore Carla Guevara, together with Aiza Seguerra, Joel Trinidad, Frenchie Dy, Rycharde Everley, Tenee Chan and Felix Rivera, will fly off to Singapore after The Farewell Run in Manila, where Avenue Q will premiere to excited audiences.

Considering the multitude of ways Singapore has managed to maintain peace among its multi-racial population, i.e. through very strict guidelines and laws, I expressed my surprise about the Singapore run to Avenue Q director Bobby Garcia, with whom I hypothesized, “Is it because of the puppets? They’re okay with the sex scene because it’s the puppets doing it?”

Bobby Garcia immediately exclaimed, “Exactly!”

I just got home from the Preview show of Avenue Q at the Esplanade Theater. I really had a fun and enjoyable night.

It made me proud I am a Filipino.
