Lisa Macuja Opens Star Theater Doors to Hairspray Manila

Children are probably more familiar with Star Theater than adults. For years, children have trooped into the theater to be enthralled by Ballet Manila dancers onstage as part of the famous ballerina’s attempts to bring ballet to the Filipino masses. For thousands of performances, Star Theater has been exclusively the home of Lisa Macuja’s ballet troupe — Ballet Manila.

Located beside the well-known Cultural Center of the Philippines, Star Theater offers an alternative venue with its less formal setting, with Star City providing an option for the children and the young at heart to enter a “carnival” themed park.

Generously, Kirov trained Lisa Macuja has opened the exclusive theater doors of Star Theater to the Atlantis production of Hairspray Manila. Not only that, but she has relocated the performances of Ballet Manila’s Lola Basyang to Aliw Theater to make way for the Tony award winner for Best Musical on its LAST WEEKEND.
