Karylle Will Wear a Red Terno During the Oscar de la Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao Dream Match

A wine-red Filipiniana terno will be worn by Karylle as she sings the Philippine National Anthem during the eagerly anticipated De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao Dream Match on 06 December 2008 at the 17,000-seat Grand Arena of MGM Grand Hotel Garden in Las Vegas. The sold out MGM fight is still expected to attract hundreds of thousands to tune in via a pay per view system, including Filipinos here who will watch the bout live on 07 December 2008 at 8am.
New York based designer Albert Figueras describes his creation as “sophisticated with understated theatricality.” A serpentine cut terno with a heart shaped neckline and a low cut back, adorned with Swarovski crystals, Mutzumo cut beads, glass beads, and sequins will drape the statuesque singer.

Karylle, unsurprisingly, was personally chosen by Manny Pacquiao for the coveted honor, since she comes from a family associated with the boxing world, having a great-grandfather for an Olympian boxer, and her grandfather, Carlos “Sonny” Padilla, Jr., as the referee for the historic boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier dubbed “Thrilla in Manila” held in 1975.
